Affordable Housing Development Internship

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Affordable Housing Development Intern will support the
Development Team and will gain experience across a broad spectrum of property
acquisition, development, management, and maintenance of affordable housing
programs. The Intern will have the unique opportunity to work with multiple
departments on a variety of community development projects. The duties of the
Intern will be both administrative and project-based.

  • Research topics and issues in affordable housing development as well as innovative programs and policies
  • Research methods of financing community development initiatives in the affordable housing field
  • Survey industry trends and new innovations
  • Assist with all manner of development projects
  • Draft research reports, grant proposals, policy briefs, and other related
    communications
  • Assist with contract and grant management
  • Provide administrative support for the department
  • Assist with other projects as they arise

In addition to these duties, the Affordable Housing
Development Intern is encouraged to introduce and carry out new ideas and
projects. This position is unpaid. Start and end dates are flexible, but a
minimum 10 week commitment is preferable. Interns are expected to work a
minimum of 10-15 hours per week.

Characteristics and skills needed:

Community Housing Network is looking for a student that is
creative, innovative and hard working. Must be currently enrolled in
undergraduate or graduate studies in urban development, communications,
political science, public policy, or a field of study which can be defended as
related. Good written and oral communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail are a must, as well as the ability to work independently
within the framework of a given project. This position requires a strong
interest in nonprofit work, social change, and the idea of creating inclusive
communities.
