Affordable Housing Development
Our goal is to end homelessness for individuals and families in our community impacted by disabilities, economic instability, and challenging circumstances. Housing is affordable when a family pays no more than 30% of its total income on housing costs. Community Housing Network offers creative solutions to the affordable housing problem within a framework of programs that make a difference in impacting lives. We are working to increase our project and housing development efforts in Oakland and Macomb counties in the following ways:
- Creating more homeless leasing assistance slots, and developing more HUD Section 811 housing units,
- Attracting greater numbers of qualified people to our Home Buying program,
- Increase HOME program funds to produce rental and home ownership opportunities for people with disabilities
- Converting more expiring leases on group homes to not-for-profit options,
- Increasing our affordable housing stock while maintaining our existing stock,
- Develop more HUD Section 811 housing units
- Utilizing Low Income Housing Tax Credits to develop additional affordable housing units.
- Increase the utilization of innovative methods to maintain and increase our affordable housing stock.
