Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund
To Provide Grant for a Proposed HUD Section 811 Housing Project
Troy, MI - On October 29, 2008, Senator Gilda Jacobs will be presenting Community Housing Network, Inc. (CHN) with a $31,800 check on behalf of Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund (MHCDF).
Community Housing Network is one of 19 groups across the state receiving funding from MHDCF. The grant funds will be used for pre-development costs for a proposed Section 811 Supportive Housing project for persons with disabilities. The proposed development is for four scattered site permanent supportive rental housing units.
Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund supports the development of Michigan's cities, towns and villages-creating housing choices and vibrant downtowns-so our state can compete in the 21st Century.
The Fund will accomplish this mission by:
- Financing downtown and neighborhood improvements to make them attractive places to live and do business.
- Financing affordable and market rate housing for young people, trained workers, immigrants, early retirees, and people of low and moderate incomes.
- Financing supportive housing for homeless and people with disabilities.
