Bring it Home 2014 to be held October 16 at the beautiful Royal Park Hotel, Rochester

We look forward to seeing you as supporters of Community Housing Network and the people we serve! Bring it Home, our  annual signature fundraising dinner will be held 6-9:30 p.m., Thursday, October 16, at the beautiful Royal Park Hotel, 600 E. University Drive, Rochester.

Our 2013 event raised a total of $120,119.57, including $19,400 to benefit Adopt A Family 2013.

We hope you join us as we come together to help provide housing resources to people who are homeless, people with disabilities, people with low income, and other vulnerable residents of Southeastern Michigan.

Guests at Bring it Home will enjoy a fun evening featuring networking, an open bar, a delicious sit-down dinner, the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items, and more. The fourth annual Emmett Jones Memorial Award will also be presented to a person in one of CHN's programs deserving recognition for hard work, perseverance and accomplishment.

We appreciate auction item donations! If you have an item to donate to the auction, please contact Hailey Noonan at HNoonan@chninc.net or 248-824-7313.

Highlights

In Memorial - Jon Garrett

Dohn Hoyle, executive director, The Arc Michigan, wrote the following memorial about Jon Garrett "who succeeded in assuring the rights of persons with disabilities to live in any community or neighborhood."

In one of the darker moments Ive experienced, my friend called to share the grim diagnosis and sad prognosis he had received.  Now weve lost a true hero, Jon Garrett has passed away. Our condolences and sincere sympathy go out to Susie and their children and to Kim, Jons right hand.  I want to be sure we remember and celebrate this man.   more

The ribbon has been cut for Unity Park Rentals!

The weather was perfect for the Unity Park Rentals ribbon cutting July 15 in Pontiac. Some of the 32 new, lease-to-purchase homes were open and tours were available through the neighborhood. The Oakland Press story is available here and their photo gallery is available here. Information on our $9 million investment in the 32-home development is available here.

Quell Group's 20 Acts of Kindness to benefit CHN!

Quell benefit

Double your donation! The Quell Group will generously match your donation to the CHN Furniture Fund Sept. 1-30, up to a total of $800 in donations, as part of their 20 Acts of Kindness Campaign! Help us raise a total of $1,600 in September to help CHN program participants, formerly homeless families and individuals, furnish their new living spaces and create a sense of home.
A donation of $160 could help a family receive a gently-used full mattress with box spring, sofa, dining table, dining chairs, and dresser, with delivery to their home, through our partnership with the Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Donate here and note the donation is for furniture. More information on the Quell Group's 20 Acts of Kindness is available here.

CHN makes the difference for program participant

Every once in a while a special donation shows up at Community Housing Network. "It's not ever much, says donor Duane Ott. "But CHN has made all the difference for me living the kind of life I choose to live versus the life of abject poverty. I can't remember how I got along before CHN.   more
