Oakland County Comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment

Oakland County has published its first Comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment. It provides useful insights into housing trends and affordability issues, particularly with respect to vulnerable populations such as the elderly and people with disabilities.

The Assessment, written by Dale E. Thompson, PhD of the University of Michigan Dearborn was based upon extensive research conducted by Wayne State University’s Center for Urban Studies.

The study was initiated based upon a recommendation to Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson from the Oakland County Business Roundtable. This group is expected to make specific recommendations to the County Executive based upon the findings in the report in the coming months.
