2008-03-08 - Spring Into Action Walk

SPRING INTO ACTION WEEK
Please Join Us in our Efforts to End Homelessness

Sterling Heights, Michigan, James C Nelson Park – On May 3, 2008 the Spring into Action to End Homelessness Walk will kick off our efforts to end homelessness. The park is located on 15 Mile Road, between Dequindre and Ryan.

The walk, the opening activity for the “Spring into Action” Week, will provide an opportunity for concerned members of the community and fitness minded individuals to join forces to promote homeless awareness and walk for the cause. During the week of May 3rd - May 10th, the Community Housing Network, Inc. will be coordinating the walk with a series of events to raise money to continue with activities related to the agency’s mission to build affordable housing and give every person a home.

This is the first walk hosted by Community Housing Network with the anticipation that this will become an annual event. The cost to participate in the walk and show your support or the over 2500 homeless people in Oakland and Macomb Counties is $10. To register for the 2008 Spring into Action to End Homelessness Walk, or to find out more information about the other Spring into Action activities, please visit www.communityhousingnetwork.org and click on the “event” link.

The “Spring into Action” Week and Walk was established to raise awareness of the homelessness epidemic in Oakland and Macomb counties and to continue to support efforts and initiative to build safe and affordable housing for all people in our community. Walkers raise money by asking friends, family, and co-workers to sponsor them. In addition to walker income, funds are raised through matching gifts, corporate contributions and other fundraising activities.
