“Getting My Own Address” WorkshopA Presentation about Moving Toward Greater Freedom and Independence

Troy, MI - On Thursday, July 31, 2008, persons with disabilities, their family members, and other supportive individuals can participate in a life-enhancing experience AND receive a free book.

The free of charge, three-hour presentation titled “Getting My Own Address” will provide inspiration, motivation and guidance for persons with severe mental illness or other disabilities wanting to become more independent.  Persons with disabilities themselves (peer advocates) will discuss the exciting possibilities of moving from congregate living situations to more independent housing.

The workshop will be held at the Community Housing Network, Inc. offices, located at:

570 Kirts Blvd., Suite 231, Woodcrest Professional Park, Troy, MI 48084, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

All persons attending the workshop will receive a “Getting My Own Address Guide/Workbook, free of charge.  The Guide can be used by persons living with mental illness in their journey of recovery. This is also an excellent opportunity for mental health professionals to increase their knowledge of affordable housing alternatives and to use the Guide with their clients. The Project is funded by the Michigan Department of Community Health and the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority.

Seating is limited so please RSVP to Community Housing Network, Inc. at 248-928-0111.
